Let's face it - The Spurs are a good team. Maybe not great. But they are G O O D. They aren't just good today. They are consistently G O O D. Maybe one player has an off night, but the other players are there to pick up the slack. And there isn't just one star. Tim Duncan isn't the best player. And he isn't the only player. There are 12 player and each and every one of them contributes.

And coaching!! How many of the current NBA Head Coaches have learned under "Pop" Popovich. I didn't like Pop when he first stepped into the head coach position, but he has won my admiration over the years. His players have gone on to become head coaches (Avery Johnson), His assistant coaches have become head coaches (PJ Carlesimo-Supersonics)

They are a good team.

I find it very funny on how people get so upset over the Spurs winning, and being as good as they are. I mean, true NBA fans would be amazed with the type of chemistry, wonderful team work, and such a great coaching staff that they have. I'm not just saying that because I'm a huge fan of theirs, but I have observed other teams out there today and how good they work as a team, and let's just say none of them come even close. Just so you know, I love the sport, not just my team.

The Mavs are a good choice dude, If they knock off San Antonio in the first round they could go far, but I don't think they can beat Boston. I just think it's their year.

San Antonio is finished because they never win in even years and they are usually streaking around this time but they are getting blown out at home and on the road. If the Pistons and Spurs meet again, I can guarantee you will see the lowest ratings in the history of sports on television!

I am a Mavs fan. The east has it much easier but I am excited for the playoffs.
As much as I do not want the Spurs to come out of them west, they have the playoff experience and they are healthier this year then they have been in the years that they have won it all. In the east, I do not believe anyone will be able to match the Celtics and Pistons. I believe the Pistons however will go to the finals and win againts the Spurs, this will be Detroit's last chance to be the favorite to win because starting next year the Celtics will be the favorite out of the East.

DETROIT PISTONS for three reasons. Ine is that they play with basically the same rotation(Hamilton, Billups, Wallace, Wallace, Price, Delk, and McDyess) everytime which build chemistry. Second is they have the experience with two consecutive NBA final appearences. Finally, with Flip Saunders as their head coach they now have the ability to outscore opponents with their new offense, but they still remember how to play their old stifling defense under Larry Brown. Easy pick especially coming from the weaker Eastern Conference.

i don't think every arena plays the same song. For example in Staples Center they always play: "i love L.A." i've heard "We are the Champions," ... i think the one you are talking about is on the ESPN Jock-Jams CD... It sounds like either: "Shout," there's also a song called "Hey, Hey You" just google espn jockjams and you can check out the names of the tracks and you should be able to figure it out from youtube or something.

in some ways, yes. since to be included on the national team means you're one of the best your country has to offer. furthermore, you get to showcase your talent in front of a world-wide audience (in theory at least) especially in front of those who may have no idea what basketball is. also, the olympics is not an annual event, it only happens once every 4 years (summer olympics, that is). so the probability of winning one becomes even more remote.

in other ways, no. in the NBA, you play against the greatest players (presumably) in the world. the top teams in the nba have often been together for a few years and had developed strategies suited to their styles. and though you have the opportunity to win an NBA championship every year, realistically, only a handful has ever won a ring.

this makes manu ginobili quite unique (with the exception of oberto) in that not only has he won in the euroleague, but has also won an olympic gold medal and 3 nba championships.

Previously I believe American players did not pay much attention to Olympic but now they respect it as well.
The one that is more highly valued to majority of the people is the NBA Championship ring. I think that the Gold Medal is more though. That's going up against the best in the world and winning it. The NBA Championship is going up against the US and nobody else.
